In a tragic sequence of events in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island, a violent confrontation led to the deaths of two men. Officials reported that 28-year-old Frank Panebianco was fatally shot by Michael Skiadas, who subsequently took his own life in front of Panebianco’s girlfriend, 28-year-old Jessica Kasten.
The incident unfolded late Sunday night when Kasten and Panebianco were leaving a local bar at approximately 11:20 p.m. Authorities believe that Skiadas, Kasten’s ex-partner, initiated a confrontation with the couple in the parking lot. Afterward, he returned to his Jeep to retrieve a shotgun.
Despite efforts from Jack Schneider, a friend of Skiadas, to defuse the situation, Skiadas turned violent, striking Schneider with the shotgun. Skiadas then pursued Panebianco and Kasten as they attempted to flee in their vehicle. He fired two shots at the couple, with one hitting Panebianco in the torso leading to his death.
After the shooting, Skiadas went back to his vehicle, reloaded his weapon, and subsequently committed suicide. Schneider, who had sustained a blow to the head during the altercation, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital, as per the police statements.
