Two Fatal Accidents Claim Lives of Motorcyclist and Pedestrian in Suffolk

Car accident in Long Island

In Suffolk, on the Southern State Parkway near Carleton Avenue, a horrific wrong-way collision resulted in the death of a motorcyclist Tuesday night.

The fatal incident occurred when a westbound 2004 Buick, traveling in the eastbound lanes, collided with a 2005 Honda motorcycle. The rider, identified as 42-year-old Hugo H. Cajamarca from Patchogue, was ejected from his motorcycle and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The Buick driver, who sustained minor injuries, has not been named by police, and it is uncertain if charges will be filed.

The New York State Attorney General’s Office announced it is undertaking a preliminary evaluation regarding the role of a police officer in the collision. Details about the officer’s involvement have not been disclosed, and the investigation is ongoing by state police.

On Wednesday, around 11 p.m., another crash claimed a life in Brentwood. Ian Fox, a 38-year-old resident of Brentwood, struck a pedestrian on Suffolk Avenue. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released by authorities, was declared deceased at the scene.

Fox was found to be driving with multiple license suspensions and now faces charges of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. His vehicle was seized for a safety examination.
