Suspect Arrested for Lethal Car Accident in South Farmingdale, Authorities Report

Car accident in Hempstead

SOUTH FARMINGDALE, NY — In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old man has been taken into custody for his alleged role in a deadly hit-and-run incident that took place in South Farmingdale earlier this year, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The suspect, identified as Christopher Rosselli of Wantagh, is facing charges for leaving the scene of an accident with a fatality involved. Authorities have scheduled his arraignment for the following day at the First District Court in Hempstead.

The event unfolded during the early hours of January 28, when police responded to a distress call at approximately 3:40 a.m. in the vicinity of 116 Merritts Road. Upon arrival, they discovered a young male, later identified as 24-year-old Mohamed Elromi from Astoria, in critical condition due to severe head injuries sustained from the collision.

Investigations revealed that the victim had been hit by a silver/gray pickup truck that fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive. Despite being rushed to a local hospital for immediate medical attention, Elromi tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The Nassau County Police Department’s handling of the case has led to Rosselli’s arrest after a thorough probe, and the legal proceedings are set to advance as he faces charges for his actions on that ill-fated January night.
