Suspect in Queens Hit-and-Run Caught on Video Returning to Scene for Evidence

Car accident in Queens

QUEENS, NEW YORK — A hit-and-run accident in Queens has resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals on a scooter. The incident occurred on Sunday morning around 8 a.m. on 57th Avenue, where a silver Volkswagen hatchback collided head-on with the victims.

The accident’s aftermath was captured on surveillance video, which shows the driver exiting the vehicle immediately following the collision. The suspect briefly returned to the scene before fleeing once more, leaving behind a scene of devastation.

According to police reports, the two victims were riding down 57th Avenue when they were struck by the Volkswagen. The impact was severe; the vehicle careened off, smashing into two parked cars and igniting a fire that required firefighters to respond quickly to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters had to break windows on a parked van to vent smoke from the area.

One eyewitness, who heard the crash from her home, described the moments following the accident, stating she saw first responders performing CPR on one of the men who was face down on the roadway. Tragically, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital.
