A tragic series of events unfolded in St. Albans, Queens, on Monday afternoon when a driver was shot in the head, causing his vehicle to crash into a pedestrian and subsequently collide with a building. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of 117th Road and Farmers Boulevard.
The victim, identified as 66-year-old William Alcindor, was driving through the intersection when a bullet struck him, leading to a chaotic sequence of actions. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud bang, followed by the sound of the vehicle crashing into a nearby building.
Roberto Tendilla, the manager of a local supermarket located near the scene, expressed shock at the unfolding chaos. “I heard the bang. It was the car crashing into the building across the street. It was crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it in the 17 years I’ve worked here,” he said.
Witnesses suggested that Alcindor may not have been the intended target of the gunfire. Rather, it was believed that he was struck by a stray bullet during a conflict among a group of teenagers in the parking lot of a nearby fast-food restaurant. Law enforcement sources indicated that the shooting appeared to be random.
