QUEENS, NEW YORK – Authorities are investigating a fatal car accident that occurred on Monday afternoon, resulting from a shooting incident in Saint Albans. A 66-year-old male driver was shot in the head while operating a grey Nissan Rogue near the intersection of 117th Road and Farmers Boulevard.
The gunfire caused the vehicle to lose control and veer off the road, subsequently striking a 23-year-old woman who was walking nearby. The impact also propelled the vehicle into a building, causing property damage in addition to the individuals involved in the incident.
Emergency services rushed the driver to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The young woman sustained injuries from being hit but is currently reported to be in stable condition at the hospital.
The restaurant manager expressed concerns over increasing violence in the neighborhood, noting that this incident marked a significant escalation from previous after-school fights that had not resulted in gunfire until now. Reports indicate that he has raised issues with law enforcement concerning these disturbances in the past.
