QUEENS, NY – A tragic moped accident claimed the life of 37-year-old Gregory Peterson on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. on the Nassau Expressway, near Lefferts Boulevard, when Peterson’s moped struck a highway divider. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Peterson had reportedly shared concerns about road safety with friends just a day prior to the accident. His friend, Joshua White, recalled their conversation where Peterson urged him to be cautious following White’s recent bike accident. “He told me to take care of myself, stay off the bike, relax,” White said. Peterson’s warning to his friend now sadly resonates even deeper after this tragic turn of events.
Known for his vibrant personality and deep connections with the community, Peterson was described as an experienced rider since childhood. He had a passion for biking, which evolved to include using e-bikes, a growing trend in the area. “He was always on his moped… He would ride all around with it,” White remarked, highlighting Peterson’s enthusiasm for cycling and riding.
