Bus collision in Queens injures passengers after driver experiences medical emergency

Car accident in Queens

Several passengers were injured in a bus accident in Sunnyside, Queens on the morning of November 10. The incident occurred at approximately 9:34 a.m. when the driver of a Q32 local bus experienced severe medical issues that led to the loss of control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into multiple parked cars.

According to police reports, the 51-year-old bus driver was traveling eastbound along Queens Boulevard near 46th Street when he suddenly began to experience severe stomach pains, resulting in him blacking out while at the wheel. This medical episode caused the bus to veer left into a fence and several parked vehicles located under the elevated 7 train line.

The impact of the crash left the bus wedged against a twisted metal fence and a concrete median. Responders, including firefighters, MTA workers, and police officers, rapidly descended on the crash site, where they worked to extricate the bus and have it towed for repairs.

Two passengers—a 36-year-old woman and a 65-year-old woman—along with the driver suffered minor injuries and were quickly transported to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, all three individuals are expected to make a full recovery.
