A tragic accident occurred early Saturday morning on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens, leading to the deaths of two teenagers. The victims, a 19-year-old woman identified as Giselle Flores and a 15-year-old boy named Andy Rodriguez, were riding on separate mopeds when the incident took place around 2 a.m.
According to reports, Giselle was supposed to return home for a planned reunion with her twin sister, Sharick Flores, later that day. Sharick had been in communication with her sister before the incident, expressing concern over Giselle’s late-night activities. Giselle reassured her sister that she was getting a ride home and would see her soon. However, the night took a devastating turn.
Giselle, who had been out with friends, jumped on a moped with Andy Rodriguez, a boy she had just met that evening. As they navigated the busy highway, Rodriguez reportedly lost control of the moped, crashing into a car. This caused both riders to be violently propelled into a highway wall near 150th Street.
The collision was severe, leaving Giselle with fatal injuries. After the crash, the friend who was with Giselle called Sharick in a frantic state, confirming the tragic news and urging her to contact emergency services. By the time Sharick arrived at the hospital, Giselle had already been pronounced dead.
