QUEENS, NY — A bizarre car accident on the Belt Parkway has raised suspicions of a possible insurance scam. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, involving a silver Honda Accord and a 2019 Acura RDX being driven by a local resident.
Dashcam footage shared online captured the dramatic moments leading up to the crash. The video shows the Honda abruptly merging from the center lane into the left lane, nearly colliding with the Acura before the driver slammed on the brakes. The Acura came to a stop just in time to avert a collision; however, the Honda then shifted into reverse and struck the Acura.
In the 69-second clip, four passengers exited the Honda, appearing to play up their injuries by holding their heads and seeming dazed. Meanwhile, they were seen taking photos of the scene and making phone calls, raising further suspicions regarding the legitimacy of their injuries.
