NEW YORK – The New York Police Department (NYPD) is currently conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred in Queens on Monday afternoon. Preliminary reports indicate that a male driver was shot in the head while operating his vehicle, causing the car to veer off course and collide with a pedestrian on the street.
The incident transpired around 3:30 PM in the area of Jamaica Avenue, a busy thoroughfare known for its heavy traffic and numerous local businesses. Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots before witnessing the vehicle lose control and strike a bystander.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, where they found the driver, believed to be in his 30s, critically injured. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. The pedestrian, identified as a woman in her 50s, sustained significant injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Her current condition has not been disclosed, though she is reported to be receiving treatment.
The NYPD has cordoned off the area to conduct a thorough investigation, including gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Detectives are looking for any surveillance footage from nearby establishments that may have captured the shooting or the moments leading up to it. They have also urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
